GG Dance Eger: Ferenc Liszt - Hungarian Rhapsody Budapest première

It is said of Liszt that he was Hungarian at heart, German in his love of music, French in his appearance and erudition, English in his aristocratic sensibility, and Italian in his enthusiasm for the arts. Hungary and its people were an important part of his life: while he didn't speak Hungarian, he described himself as such. The artist, celebrated across Europe, played a role in the flourishing of Hungarian culture, placing great emphasis on discovering and nurturing talent. Are we Hungarians, who live our daily lives speaking our native language, striving to preserve our beautiful and rich culture to pass on to the coming generations?
The rhapsody is a lyrical poem which contains the soaring, whimsical extremes of the spirit, great contrasts, and passionate emotions. The mood, tempo and rhythmic changes typical of the genre are paired perfectly with the tools of contemporary dance.

Our offer

Yvette Bozsik’s solo performance was inspired by Mineko Iwasaki, the protagonist of Memoirs of a Geisha. The performance takes viewers into the lonely, secretive, and personal world of Women of Dance and Art, the memoir of an elderly dancer who always danced with her whole soul. Yvette Bozsik’s iconic partner, Tamás Vati, also features in the performance, which reveals the inner work of a dancer’s self-knowledge, rituals, inner vibrations, and secrets in the triple unity of body, soul, and spirit. Yvette Bozsik’s solo performance was inspired by the autobiography Geisha of Gion by Mineko Iwasaki, the protagonist of the world-famous book and film Memoirs of a Geisha.

Ever since God gave Adam a companion, fashioned from his rib, in Paradise, the order of the world has been that no one should live alone. Its modality has taken dozens of shades over the millennia since then: cohabitation, bigamy, polygamy, polyandry, all the way until we come to the most familiar form today.

In one of Shakespeare’s best-known comedies, brothers turn against each other, young people fall in love with each other, they laugh and cry, dress in disguise, lose and find each other again, and a sad clown who has an opinion about everyone also emerges.
