Picture-writer

Picture-writer, just as every performance of our company, is based on the common work of a real creative collective, and strongly characterised by the diversity of the creators and performers who are collaborating in it: artists from different fields of dance (folk dance, classical ballet, and contemporary dance) and a dj contributed to the show.

The collective creation has been led by choreographer Zsolt Juhász. The performance draws its inspiration from a Hungarian painter’s pictures and the eponymous book about his oeuvre, but the creators are questioning the mutually fertile relationship between visual arts and dance in a broader sense.

Our offer

Yvette Bozsik’s solo performance was inspired by Mineko Iwasaki, the protagonist of Memoirs of a Geisha. The performance takes viewers into the lonely, secretive, and personal world of Women of Dance and Art, the memoir of an elderly dancer who always danced with her whole soul. Yvette Bozsik’s iconic partner, Tamás Vati, also features in the performance, which reveals the inner work of a dancer’s self-knowledge, rituals, inner vibrations, and secrets in the triple unity of body, soul, and spirit. Yvette Bozsik’s solo performance was inspired by the autobiography Geisha of Gion by Mineko Iwasaki, the protagonist of the world-famous book and film Memoirs of a Geisha.

Ever since God gave Adam a companion, fashioned from his rib, in Paradise, the order of the world has been that no one should live alone. Its modality has taken dozens of shades over the millennia since then: cohabitation, bigamy, polygamy, polyandry, all the way until we come to the most familiar form today.

We get an insight into the ritual-filled life of barbarian settlement trying to seek out a living on the ruins of a civilisation and fighting for survival, fighting with their fears, trying to live through all things fate brings on to them.
