Hansel and Gretel - Yvette Bozsik Company

Hansel and Gretel - Yvette Bozsik Company

The story of Hansel and Gretel is both about growing up and about taking responsibility and standing up for ourselves and our loved ones. The story encourages children to set off on their own explorations, even in the realms of their own imagination. In fairy tales, all difficulties can be overcome—not only the real ones, but also the dangers created by an overly anxious imagination.

Although Hansel and Gretel is a terrifying horror story, the stage production is exciting and entertaining, humorous and instructive. Love triumphs over fear, Gretel saves them both from the witch, they return home, and their evil stepmother is punished.

Dance theatre for children has a magical effect on young audiences: the music, the visuals, the beautiful sets, the costumes, the lights, and the choreography captivate their senses. The performance will have an innovative visual setting, with music composed for the occasion by composer Jean-Philippe Heritier.

Yvette Bozsik has created emblematic children’s productions for many age groups, the most memorable of which are The Magic Circus, Pinocchio, and Hungarian Folktales.

Our offer

Two misunderstood people starved for love who in their own way have taken on a role to protect themselves from disappointment. However, neither of them could have imagined that on that particular day in Oradea, their meeting would lead to a new and passionate romance... one that would sweep them both away and shake Hungarian literature to its very foundations.

The evoked era in the performance coincides with the time of the original premiere of Swan Lake. At the same time the second half of the 19th century was also a period known for the spreading of mental hospitals; patients 'possessed' by animal spirits and treatments of mental illnesses by torture and other bizarre methods.

The inspiring influence of the exciting, ever-popular South American musical rhythms and their non-traditional use has long been present in Tamás Topolánszky’s choreographic approach. This new production uses original melodies and Hungarian-language works by Hungarian composers, with an exciting combination of music written for the production.
