One of the leading figures of Dance in Turkey Beyhan Murphy and ‘world music artist’ Mercan Dede have configured a multi-layered mobile production that represents Turkish culture with mystical undertones expressed in a modern dance rhetoric. It is a fusion of contemporary and classical elements; travelling from Ottoman times to a city cafe, from modern life inner searches through to whirling dervishes eventually arriving at the rose which is a symbol of humanity at it’s finest. The tent that Rosegarden is contained in represents nomadic life.Colourful and dynamic, Rosegarden is accompanied by a small live orchestra and the photographs of renowned photographer Ara Guler.Rosegarden is one of the most celebrated productions of the State Opera & Ballet and will be celebrating 20 years on stage in 2024.
