Egyszer régen, nagyon régen, az indiai mitikus időkben elpusztult a világ. Az óceán elöntött mindent és az összes értéket magával ragadta. Az addig folytonosan egymással rivalizáló „isteneknek” és „démonoknak” mindenük odalett, ráadásul a halhatatlanságukat is elvesztették. Egyszerű halandókká lettek. Ám azt mindannyian jól tudták, hogy a halhatatlanság itala, az Amrita, a tenger mélyén rejtőzik. Gondolták, ha összefognak, és együtt nekilátnak, közös erővel kiköpülhetik elvesztett kincseiket. A hatalmas feladathoz illőn választottak szerszámot. Köpülőfájuk egy óriási hegy, a köpülő zsinór pedig egy hatalmas kígyó volt. A munka során különböző nehézségek állták útjukat, ám végül meglett, amire legjobban vágytak, az Amrita. Bár elérték, amit akartak, a siker sokuknak csalódással járt, mert a halhatatlanság italából nem juthatott mindenkinek. Össze is vesztek, s akik pórul jártak, nem békéltek meg, s nem nyughattak, míg a világot újabb végveszélybe nem sodorták.

The idea for The Nutcracker ballet came from theone-time director of the Tsarist theatre who, based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s fairy tale entitled the Nutcracker and the Mouse King, wanted to stage a fairy tale ballet that would surpass all that had gone before, both in sound and in spectacle. Tchaikovsky was asked to compose the music and after Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty his third and final ballet was also a great success. It was the six-movement suite of the music of The Nutcracker that was first performed in March 1892, and in December of the same year the spectacularly presented theatrical work was also performed. The Nutcracker has become the most frequently played ballet piece of all time.
VASAS DANSE: Closed Doors The presence of another person is a stimulus on stage. A stimulus that immediately becomes a question, a challenge, an attack. When two people meet, values, customs, traditions, and languages always come together. Expectations. The compulsion to meet other’s expectations. I have to make room within myself for the other person, who can only find meaning within me according to my own rules and my own axis of experience. That is how my own existence is reinterpreted in the other.
