What makes this evening particularly interesting is that, although the two parts are not directly connected, they are not entirely separate either; rather, they present the audience with two different perspectives of the same story, exploring themes of alienation, loss of identity, and the longing for human connection.
A perfectly functioning, cold machine: the monotonous routine of everyday life is thrown off balance in an instant and the invisible bonds turn into a suffocating web.
The boundaries between the quest for freedom and helpless conformity become blurred, and the cogs of the machinery attempt to adapt to the structure that is falling apart yet still holds them captive. This is the ritual of collective solitude. A universal human experience independent of age, faces, and names.
Can we shed the form that has been forced upon us if it has already become second nature? And can a person remain strong enough when the system is slowly eroding everything that is human?
